New link in the navigation bar - PHOTO / VIDEO!

If you haven’t already noticed over the last two days we have added a new navigation bar link that contains links to our new photo department website (thanks to the head photo editor, Gordon King, turned geek,) a link to our photo reprints site, the new photo department photo blog (Go photo staff,) all of the great audio slideshows that you’ve come to expect of the YH-R photo staff in the new ‘multimedia’ link and finally - a local video section - that will have any video YH-R folks shoot and/or audio slideshows that are created as well.

Theses new tools (blog and video) will help us organize our content for you to read. Here’s a bit of info on these new sections:

Photo Blog:
Gordon said he hopes the photo department can post one useful/interesting/quality post a week for readers. For anyone who has not blogged regularly, it can be difficult coming up with inspired posts, so the photo staff should be commended for jumping headlong into blogging! You can read his introduction to the new photo department site on the blog. (Note - I have been not posted on the 404 in nearly two weeks…)

Video:
I hope that everyone to yakimaherald.com has checked out our AP videos that can be found in several locations on the site. One critical thing has been missing as viewership of videos has steadily increased — we have not been able to provide a local video section. We are a newspaper… right? What would we do with a local video section? Well - for now - we will be growing yakimaherald.com’s partnership with AP to provide another way to get you local stories. We already have strong audio slideshows, at least one a week, that have always been hosted by us. Now we can provide those same audio slideshows through the AP video system. As that partnership grows and we can develop the section, I will keep you up-to-date here, on the 404 with exciting news.

Thanks for reading!
